what upper and lower intake you guys reccomend?...what about the Gt40 .....was also going to do alum heads?? good idea...and carb or efi?
The first decision is probably EFI or Carb, as that will affect the decision on intakes...

Do you have a preference?
How wild is this build going to be? This is usually more of budget question. What are you willing to spend.

Bare bones, just getting a used 351w short block in the car will be about 1,500 to 2,000 bones?
I figured I could have done my swap for ~1,800 which included 7-800 for the used block. I purchased all the conversion parts new.

nothing takes the place of cubic inches
351 stroker , you will eventually spend twice the money on a 302 trying to go as fast as a 408
i know 302s are good, high reving engines, but i like a 408 better

On the EFI or the carb preference...im looking at which is going to not give as much hassle....to much things can go wrong with all that electrical things thats why now im looking to go carb...ill have more room to work on things too...it would allow me to do more to the motor correct? Im going to spend on the motor maby a lil over $4,500 I already bought the motor for $100 complete exception on the cam and upper intake...but was going to get new ones anyway...

carb is better for power to money ratio by far and you deff have less to go wrong computer wise mostly cause there is no computer

with your budget of $4,500, I would take the 351W you
have and bore it .03 over, re-use the stock crank, get some forged dish pistons
put it back together with ARP bolts and studs and Ford Racing windage tray

then get a $2,000-2,500 head/cam combo from www.camshaftinnovations.com
and put a Vic Jr or Wiend Stealth intake with good 650 carb
1 3/4 long tube headers

There's alot of misc. parts that add up in the swap but its not
too bad.

you want to match your heads and pistons for a 10:1 compression ratio
if going to boost later shoot for more like 9:1-9.5:1

You'll have a good 425-450hp at the fly wheel and 350-380rwhp

If you were talking about a 302 gt40, it wont work. 351 inatke manifolds are wider then a 302 due to there higher deck height, again i wasnt sure what you had meant though.

When you mean reuse the stock crank id get it all cleaned up and maby have to have it shaved a lil right polished and what not...I planned on stroking it with the forged stuff thats what would make it that right?...id never go to boost or spray...im old school and all motor

They do make a GT-40 intake for the 351W, they came off Lightning Trucks, have to find them on Ebay.

If you go EFI, I recommend either the TrickFlow R or the VicJr intake with injector ports and one of
those 4brl TB's that look like a carb.
