Fule pump problems!!!
I have an 88 LX and my fule pump is acting up. When I turn the ignition on the pump comes on but when I turn it off the pump still runs. I have to disconnect the eletcical conector by the fule tank to turn it off. If the car is off for a long pieriod of time (over night) and I plug the conector back in it doesn't run but if I diconnector for short pieriods of time and the plug it back in it runs. Could this be the relay??? I have read that the relay is under the drivers seat but where(top of carpet, under carpet, under car under the seat)????? Anyone know if this will fix the problem?? If not what will??? Help please!!!! Thanks!
is there anything else staying on? heater, radio, **** like that... if yes, probably ignition switch.
if not, its probably the relay. relay is located under the seat. whether or not its under the carpet, i dunno. i've never owned your car, so its hard to say
turn the key on, then turn it off. if the pump stays running, feel the relay. if its getting hot/is hot, its stuck on.

just unbolt the seat, its 4 bolts and 1 electrical connection if you got power seats. then the relay should be right in front of your face. i dont think ford would be dumb enough to put a wearable electronic device under the carpet.
Thanks for all the help! It was the relay after all. Took it off to take it to the auto part store and then had to put it back on to get there. After I reinstalled the car ran fine. Going to get a new one to have on standby.
