Default NO ACCELERATION

When I hit the gas, the RPM's fly up. I had a pervious post about this a long time ago, and the big idea seemed to be that it was the clutch. I talked to my dad and he says that if the clutch still shifts and is doing its job, then its not the clutch. He says clutches either work, or they don't.

What could it be? My dad says it could be the rear end.

Not to go against ur dad but. Ive been through quite a few clutches that slip when in gear. You press ur accelerator and the rpms go and u dont. to me its def ur clutch. n the clutch will go into every gear and it could still be bad. get it checked out. I doubt its ur rear have u taken it apart recently and maybe mis-assembled it. most rears dont usually go just like that.

there was a 94+ body mustang at a dealership recently that i test drove. It was an automatic, but when i floored it, the rpms would fly up and the car wouldnt move, this was usually going 50+ when it would happen. The dealership said it was giving them an erg valve code, i dont know if that could be the case with you, im just saying what i heard. Good luck to you.

+1 on the clutch. Easy way to test. Get going around 30mph, throw it in 3rd and hit the gas. If the clutch is working the car will accelerate, if not the rpm's will fly up. It could also be a really bad rear main seal leak, and its saturating your clutch in oil.

definately in the clutches.....also check the quadrant...that could cause it also....in fact....my car was doing the same thing, so i am changing my rear main seal, fywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate. i also ordered a bbk clutch quadrant, cable and firewall adjuster.
