Default Ring and Pinion

Hey guys, I'm about to pick up a brand new set of 3:73 gears, still in box (never used) for $50. I know better than to take his word for it, so what should I look for when i check them out? I want to make sure they are brand spankin new, and is there a way to tell if they are FRPP?

If they are ford racing they should be in a ford racing box (if they still boxed) and they will say ford on them like every other ford part.

Ok thanks for that. Where should I look for any damage or wear?

Someone help! I'm about to leave to get them right now! If there are things to look for that might not be obvious, let me know... thanks in advance

If they are new they won't have a wear pattern on them, look for shiny areas on the ring and pinion.

You'll be able to tell if they are used....they will have marks where the gears have meshed.
