RE: best motor setup?
I agree totally. You can hit 12's on stock lower end and displacement with bolt on's. You can start shaving weight via fiberglass components (100lbs of weight loss equals 1/10 of a sec. roughly). And you would be amazed at what freeing up your breathing and fuel system can do. Heads, intake injectors, pulley's and exhaust can really sink your numbers and allow you to stay well within the safe operating numbers for block and tranny integrity.

RE: best motor setup?
well i agree with everythin said but to answer ur question, a good setup would be a trick flow stage 1 cam, gt 40 heads ported with the intake to match and may i suggest a gt40 intake, 24lb injectors, dual force clutch 410's in the rear, 456 if its not ur dd, and then u should be low 12's high 11's when u get ur suspension done. that is a pretty cheap setup i listed u can always go for much more expensive stuff, but that stuff if u have some patience wont cost u more than 2 grand when done. then the 2 grand of suspension work or so and u have an 11 sec street car.
