Need some help with 1990 GT
Hey guys. I am by no means new to the mustang world. I've owned 4 in my short life of 21 years. I just sold my 04 Mach 1 because it was getting way too expensive for me. My first car was a 92 GT, and I loved that car, possibly more than any other car I've ever owned. I am now in the market for an 87-93 fox and I have a friend of mine who is selling his 1990 GT. I have a couple questions though. It is a 5-speed, and I want an auto. I've priced the auto conversion, but I was wondering how well an auto conversion would work. Would it be noticeable in any way that it was once a 5-speed? Will it driveidentical to a stock auto car? Also, the car has 156k miles on it, whichdoesn't matter much, because I eventually want to builda motor for it. I drove the car today, and to my surprise, the car rides and drives perfectly. Heis asking $2,200 for it. Iam thinking this is a pretty awesome deal on this car, in the shape that it's in. It needs some of the normal tlc these car needs (i.e. weather stripping, black molding, etc) but it looks good overall. What do you guys think?Sorry for the long post.

Any rust? For the price it seems like a great deal. Why would you convert it to an auto? It seems over the years that 5-speeds are more desireable. I would buy it then trade it for an auto. For that price it would definitely be worth it just to hang onto until summer.
IMHO, buy it!

I've heard that running an auto with a manual computer is a no no, but I don't honestly know. The swap is pretty easy, but the transmission is heavy so you may need some help moving it into position to bolt it on. I've done the swap two times and the hardest part both times was the shifter and shifter linkage. The first time I just had trouble finding the bracket for the linkage on the transmission. 2nd time I had trouble because I cut part of the metal in my car to put a shifter for my c4 when I had it in. As of now I have the T5 back in.
I'd look into the computer thing though, I think that would be your only problem. Even so though you could just swap them.

+1 I wouold swap the computer, dont know of the affects of running a 5spd computer in an AOD but doesnt sound good lol Im sure you can get more help in this subject if you ask around. There are a few people on here who have done the AOD - T5 swap.
