Ok so I'm checking out my first 5.0 early next week, and I need some pointers in terms of whatI should look for or be worried about. It's a 93 hardtopGTwith 111k. It looks pretty clean but like I said I'm no auto expert. Any tips would help guys- thanks.

 

look for cracks in the floor pans, broken torque boxes, rusted out subframes...

theres a lot of stuff but those are probably the most important

 

+1...cracks = rode hard and put up wet

Check the hatch for rust & spare tire area. Check quarter windows for rott, etc. Leaks on oil, pan, valve covers, rear main seal, tranny leaking, rust ALL OVER, strong shifts, etc.

 

check the all the outside edges for rust around wheel wells bumpers subframe....like stated above. deff be careful with a 5 speed make sure you test the clutch and shifts alot. make sure there isnt any grinding of gears. all else fails if you dont feel like it was a quality car then dont buy it.

#1 tip of the day, test alot of different 5.0's no matter how many miles or what they look like unless its a POS. that way you get a feel between cars so you know or think you know what it should feel like to ride in one.
