Default 351M

would a 351M bolt up to my t5 or is it even worth putting in how hard is it to find parts for this engine? or would i just be better off with getting a 351W?

351m has a 460bb bolt pattern for the bellhousing, and are very expensive to build with not many aftermarket parts, you can go with a cleveland it has a sbf bolt pattern but is still about 2-3 time more expensive to build same story with parts avail.

he is right about the bolt patterns... but being expensive to build.. i dont know about that..i had one in my 78 f-150 4x4 and i built it up pretty cheap but i got alot of used parts. i got the intake and carb used for 200 bucks. got a new cam from blue racer for like 170 or so..new lifters.. rebuilt the heads, gotheaders and such and it was pretty responsive. the m heads are basicly 351 cleveland 2v heads too so they actually flow pretty good.

but on a bad note.. they are heavy.. i think they weigh like.. 60lbs less the a 460.. so.. if you want to go that route..just build a 460.

nah i heard its a good motor i just want to build a really nice motor so its that one is heavy and hard to find some good stuff for and doesnt bolt straight up to my trans there really is no point in getting it for me

351M sucks, you Wont find parts for it, ive never seen them before. The engine was only made for like a decade b/c it sucked. its a high torque/low hp engine -like 300T/150Hp, not worth the trouble, just get a Windos if you can.

u should wait on getting that crank then b/c if your planning to stroke it out to a 408w, dont u have to get a bigger crank from some bigger engine.....a forget which one lol
