Gears recommendations for my 1990 5.0 Automatic?
I currently have a 1990 5.0 Automatic. I will soon be upgrading the gears in my car. I've been doing some readign and found mixed opinions on whether I should buy 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10. I'll be using my car for street driving and racing, so my takeoff will be very important. I will be doing minimal highway driving. Also, I only drive this car like 4-6 months outta the year. The 4-6 months I do drive it, it is mostly at night on on the weekends and stuff. Based on this information, what size gears do ya'll recommend??

and if you didn't put a trans cooler in the carfor the heat and you most likely have cut the transmission's life by 25-35%

Definately 4.10's. I went from 2.73's to 4.10's in my '92 with an AOD and the 4.10's really woke the car up.
