I also saw that some ppl siad its easier to use bolts, i want to do that since i dnt have a rivet gun, but what size kind of bolts? At first i jus thought id take it to a bodyshop and have em installed n some guy told me 65 EACH door, lol i said no its ok. Stupid people jus tryin to make easy money cuz they saw that im a girl. Anyways if anyone could be nice enough n help out?

RE: Question... rivets
The rivets are 1/4" aluminum. First its best to use a punch and hammer and punch out the center stud. Then take a 1/4" drill bit and drill through it. You might have to move the drill around in a little circle toward the end to reem the hole out. you can get the Big daddy rivet guns really cheap these days. search the internet or Ebay probably like $15. You can also use it to change door glasses, regulators and window motors and doo lock actuaters.

RE: Question... rivets
Be sure to buy the ALL metal replacement handles. They will last forever...
Replacing the rivets isn't worth the time.
Here is a thread on another board that discussed using carriage bolts.

Basically, you find some 1/4" carriage bolts (rounded pan head with no screw driver slots) and file the holes in the new door handles to accept the square shank of the carriage bolt.
A little thread locker, or even better nylok nuts, and the bolts will never loosen.
Take the time to spray paint the heads of the carriage bolts, and it willlook better than factory.

RE: Question... rivets
To drill out the rivets I always use a drill bit that is a little larger than the shank. If you drill from the round head side you will eventually drill out a circle around the shaft and the head will fall off. Then you can just push the rivet out the back.
