anyone ever ported heads themselves? I have a guy that'll do it cheap, but I was just curious to see if its soemthing I can do with one of those porting kits. There's an article in DIYporting.com where they copied gt40p ports on E7's.

I am in the process of porting my e7's myself... i thought it would be hard and easy to mess up... but the guy that owns the shop i work at kinda showed me along the way while i was doing it... it is easy especially on non-aluminum heads cause the metal is so hard! Save yourself some money and just go for it! Ill probably post some pics when i get them done in a week or so...

PS... It Takes Tons Of Time!

thats cool. yeah, i'd be prepared to spend 50 hours of work on it if needed. I just hate spending money if its something I can do myself.

hopefully, i'd be using some gt40 heads though.

50 hours of labor to port your stock heads?!?!? what a waste of 50 hours. get a job, work there for 50 hours and take your earnings and buy a set of quality used heads

You have a point, but most people, with what they earn in 50 hrs. might be 500 bucks, which wont get you a "good" set of aftermarkets.
If porting E7's get rid of the thermactor bumps like stated, and port match the intake ports with the lower intake runners............thats how mine is, i didnt do the port work though the last owner did, But my Cobra intake was ported by Anderson Ford-stage 3

i just really hate paying someone to do something I can do myself. I have never taken my car to a shop. Besides if i start, and find, i'm just sick of it, I can always have someone finish it for me.
