installing T-5 Problem
The last 2 times I have changed my clutch I have had a hard time getting the tranny to slide all the way in. The is like a 1/4" that won't go in, we had to use the bolts to force it in. Is that normal? We did replace the pilot bearing and it was 2 different trannys. thanks

its actually quite stupid to force the tranny into place, it can cause alot of damage.
once you have the transmission partially in but still have that 1/4" to go.. have someone press on the clutch pedal (assuming you have the cable hooked up... if you dont have it hooked up... it would be a good idea) since the pilot shaft is already through the clutch plate, you dojnt have to worry about the plate sliding. However, this will give you enough play to move the transmission and get the end of the pilot shaft into the pilot bearing!
so to recap, since nobody seems to understand english on here...
install clutch, re-attach clutch cable.
slide transmission in to point where it gets stuck(where you normally force it)
have friend step on clutch
slide tranny the rest of the way in
bolt in tranny
have friend release clutch

RE: installing T-5 Problem
+1 when you are putting it in your clutch is not lined up with the pilot bering. When you force it in it is forcefully lining the clutch. But like Adder said, once your are1/4 to go push the clutch pedal in, it will slide right in.

RE: installing T-5 Problem
why don't u guys just go buy the 5$ spline tool??? saves alot of aggrevation and time, plus u don't need a helper that way... if i had to have someone help me put in trannys i would go crazy...
and NEVER force the tranny into place, are you sure there wasn't something in the way of it that u may of crushed forcing it in, like a wiring harness that runs along the top of the tranny, thats a VERY common rookie mistake, and i did it to my car the first time i took out my tranny how ever i didn't force it in i stoped and looked for something that was in the way

yeah im with keith and lenny on this one. there is absolutely no reason to force something back together. always think of this when working on your car or someone elses for that matter. if you have to force it back together its usually isnt right. did you use the alignment tool?

thats the key word here, rebuilding rears and trannys are a little different
