Temp Gauge acting crazy...wtf
 
My temp gauge is acting crazy lately, I says im overheating, but when i turn the lights off it goes down to normal. ?????? wtf. Im getting an aftermarket pillar gauges shortely but, wtf.

I had the same problem on my 91. I changed the sensor and still the same thing. I could never figure it out so I put in an after market. Sorry I couldn't help ya.

Sounds electrical to me. Maybe a short or faulty ground. Have you messed with any wires since it started happening.

Do the following....hook a digital voltmeter to the temp sender wire and battery (-), start the engine and check voltage.....check the reading....turn all the accesories on (headlights, wipers, A/C or blower, press brake pedal) and check the voltage difference....turn all accesories off and check what difference in voltage you read....if the difference is greater than .2vdc (acc. on/off), you have a ground problem.
