actually, all i did was just take the other guys before me advice and leave the car on or at least have the key in the accessory position and it worked...i must have not remembered correctly and probably just turned the car off and then tried to open the trunk when i had said i tried it and it didnt work...lol...try turning on the key and pushing it

when i got my car it had a bad connection behind the switch..just connected it and it orked fine

I just realized this today. on my 2000 it will open whether the car is running or not. when I checked for dc at the connector before it went into the yellow button, nothing there. found this post, turned it on, and popped the trunk. sweet. now onto the map light, gotta pull it and check the contacts.
