if you dont have mufflers it will sound like ***. and long tubes are more for built engines so just use shorties.

The Myths:

Longtubes will lose low-end power/torque on a stock mustang.
Mike Hudson - I went with the ever too big 1-5/8" LT's on an otherwise factory original 5.0 and gained hp and tq all across the board. A min. gain of 5hp/tq was seen at 2000(where the pull started) and paeks of 15.2hp and 14.7tq were recorded. Peaks were up a mere 100rpm for hp and 200 rpm for TQ. Dynos are neat and all, so, at the track, with the extra hp and rpm I gained a soild 3/10ths and 2mph.

I took that from anouther mustang tech site.

I just found that interesting. since my lil 3rother has 3 f-bodys and hes building one up and they same the same for LT1's lol

Keep mufflers, depending on where you are you could get an H-pipe without cats but definatly keep the mufflers.

yes you need mufflers, it will run slower from no backpressure.

reduced backpressure is good, none is bad

i disagree on the longtubes, i'm using them for the second car. i say do it. plus they sound way better.

my '89 went went 13.20's w/ just longtubes, 4.10's, ac and smog delete

Running lean doesnt have to do with your exhaust it means you not getting enough fuel... If i were you I would just throw an off road h or x pipe on and call it a day since you already have headers and a catback...

headers, xpipe and mufflers, your making it complicated, with long tubes you run the risk of denting them up on a daily driver with bump and ramps
