Engine Compartment ?
Ok well guys my engine compartment has dirt and all kinds of grabage in it and I would like to was it all away with water and soap but im not sure if the water will hurt any of the electrical. So what would you recommend?
I'd cover the maf, maybe the distributor, just dont apply direct water pressure to anything like that. The alt is fully enclosed and should be okay.
What i do is spray the entire thing down with simple green, cover everything, let it sit for like 3 minutes and then hose it off. Might wanna scrub the heavy parts but it works mingya nice.

brake cleaner does wonders too, to blast the heavy nastiness off.......after it's all clean and dry check out what it looks like if you spray tire foam over EVERYTHING !!!
i always cover the dizzy w/ a bag, doesn't take much to get a bit of water under the cap and cause a little miss

simple green is good stuff, biodegradable, non-toxic, and it cleans really good.
purple stuff works really great for getting of grease and grime too.
brake parts cleaner is AWSOME, (and so is carb cleaner) but you gotta watch what you spray it on, some plastics/rubber really dont like it.

Don't forget that brake cleaner is a good degreaser... meaning it will probably take the wax off the paint in the engine bay. So if you have an engine bay that looks nice and you really want to keep it shiny, follow up with an application of wax if you use it.
I found out the hard way - don't use Grease Lightening on any aluminum pieces. It's not user friendly. (Read warning labels first)

i use simply green... its good ****... i use a 1:1 ratio mix.... spread everything down... let it set 5mins... then scrub nething that i think needs to be scrubed then take a hose a spray it off... get a plastic sack form store... and cover the dissy... i double wrap it... some say the alternator but i dont think its really need.... after i spray it off i make sure hte sun is hitting it and let it dry... then i go bak and clean up ne water spots... normally no to bad.. then i take tire wet and polish up the plastic stuff makes it shiny....
