Default Windshield

Anyone have any suggestions to remove a windshield from an 86 GT and still keep it in tact. i heard one way is to use this wire called piano wire. Any other ways?

Piano wire is a good way to remove a windshield once all the clips and a starter hole is cut into the rubber it takes two people to remove one. bieng very careful seasawing the wire back and fourth and take extra care not to cut into the glass when cutting around the corners. I used to work at a wrecking yard on a hot day the chances of actualy pulling one out were 4 out of 5 if you do try it do it when its cool out but instaling it is another story its cheaper to call a mobil windshield place to install it

a glass shop is the best way to go , not much to remove, and reinstall with a new bead of sealant. you can try your hardest, its very easy to crack a windshield

I got to have mine done too. I replaced my back hatch glass but I took the hatch off of the car. Winshield is alot harder so I am going to let the glass shop do it.

the piano wire will work but it will probably crack the windsheild in the process the I use a hot knife like this at work, the blade gets hot and melts thru the urethane quickly and cleanly but this tools is way out of the price range of an enthusiast http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/p-12153-14959.aspx
