Spilling Coolant

Spilling Coolant
Im not overheating according to my temp gauge, but whenever im idling or shut the car off, the radiator sprays out coolant. I dont have an overflow tank, so it just drip onto the ground. Its making a mess in my driveway and im sick of having to add coolant. I have an electric fan and i recently changed the t stat. Even when i fill the car up with coolant and let it idle with the cap off to burp it, it still just randomly spills a bunch of coolant out, then the level just drops. It will keep doing that for a while whentrying to burp it. I also recently installed a new water pump so i am just frustrated and am running out of ideas. Any help is appreciated.

Im sorry i forgot to note that its spilling out of the overflow line. This means im exceeding the radiator cap's pressure, correct? Maybe i need a new radiator cap?

get an over flow if you have to get a soda bottle for now see what happens. where is it coming out of the radiator cause you might need a new one

Well, it is normal for coolant to come out of the radialtor, hence the PSI rated radiator cap, that is the purpose of the overflow, but an excessive amoutof pressure will make it spit out more than normal causing you to have a lower than normal coolant level. The extra pressure can be caused be a few things, simplest would be a bad cap(simulating extra pressure by opening too soon) or stat not functioning properly allowing the coolant to heat/expand more, or a blown head gasket(which I experienced) that blows compression past the gasket into your coolant causing extra pressure.
I would begin by adding an overflow, it should level out because it can only expand so much under normal conditions, meaning you shouldn't keep losing coolant if you get it just right. If you keep filling your overflow(which I did with my blown headgasket, overfilled it all over the motor[>:])there is a problem. I would also add a new cap. If your problem keep up, it may mean somethingworse.
