Default crate engine :O

so i came to the conclusion that a crate engine will be most favorable for my situation. i could pay for a rebuild engine but then i will not have the performance and quality of a crate engine. the only downside of course is the price. $4000 for 340hp in a box vs $2600 for a normal 5.0 HO rebuilt with 225hp

jegs seems to have the cheapest ford crate that i can find

does anyone know of a cheaper site?

just call your local machine shop and see how much do build a decent motor. The ford one isnt the greatest, but no crate motor really is. I would rather have one built near me

the shops i call in miami mostly do rebuilds, the price for the performance of their high end engines do not match the ford engine i posted the link to

so rebuild your 302 with all the goodies, the 345 horse is with a carb and at the flywheel, so dont expect much if you buy it

I hope you don't plan on boosting that crate engine because it is just as stout as your stock engine from what I've been told.

Also Primetime is correct...rear wheel horsepower will be a lot less. Just buy a top end kit and a rebuild kit and you'll have more horse power, plus better parts when you upgrade to a better block if you ever decide to go that routeandchoose tothrow boostat it

this is my daily driver and i need it up and running asap. i dont want to mod the engine after i put it in, everything after that will be suspension, interior, wheels and tires. plus im a student so i want something reliable.
