how hard would it be to change clutch in my 85 gt ? never done 1 before but other night went out and playing and burned tires off but also smelled little bit of clutch also . and then later on while car was still warm tryed to power brake it and said no deal everytime rived and dumped clutch was like car fell on its face. but later on when was cooled off i could light tires back up like nothing so think might be time for new 1

[/quote Ya ,the clutch worked again because it cooled down? It's probally ok but, NOT a good idea to be smoking the tires like that..Crazy! It will cost you more than just a clutch if you keep doing things like that.....Good Luck! If you never did a clutch before best to take it to a shop less headaches but more money$$$

I just put one in my 86 GT last weekend. Take your driveshaft off, put a jack under the tranny, unbolt the crossmember, unplug all of your sensors on your tranny, remove the four bolts connecting the tranny to the bellhousing, remove the bellhousing from its cover(starter too), remove clutch fork and throw out bearing, remove pressure plate and clutch disc, get flywheel resurfaced, put flywheel back on, put pressure plate and clutch disc back on, align it with clutch alignment tool, tighten pressure plate bolts to spec, reinstall bellhousing, replace throw out bearing and reinstall clutch fork, reinstall tranny and tighten the four bolts back to spec, reinstall sensors and connectors to tranny, reinstall crossmember, reinstall driveshaft, and last but not least...STOP BEATING THE **** OUT OF YOUR CAR!!!
