you have chips that you plug into the box, tou can buy them in any rpm you want. they are inexpensive and they go from 100rpm to 10000rpm+ its takes 2 seconds to change em out

yeah, the new one I just got came with three pills as they call them, 5,000 and 6,000 and 7,000 rpm if I remember correctly. and you can buy additional ones in sets of 5 for more fine tuning control if you need it or to use in a two step controller too!

isnt there a rev limiter in the ECU from factory? my friend has a 88 5.0 but doesnt have a rev limiter andhe has stock ignition. Does the MSD box block that and use its own with ingition spark?

Well no thats computer related
Example:
Stock ECU's Rev Limiter cuts out FUEL @ 6250 RPMS and if you had a 7000 RPM Pill in there
It'd hit the ECU's first.
Now say you had a 6200 pill, the MSD's rev would hit first and it would just cut spark.
You can get a chip burned to raise this if need be.

why worry about going over 6K, until I changed my tire size recently, I was running wide open to 6,200 rpm in 3rd gear (1:1) in the 1/4 mile with not any problems at all and made at least 150 passes like this with 26" tires and then moved up to 28" x 10.5 slicks. and that's on my basically stock engine with over 108,000 miles on it. unless you're driving on the open road, you won't see 6K rpm in 1:1 tranny gear unless you're really flying down the road. you need to flog the engine from time to time to keep the carbon deposits blown out anyway! LOL

i just dont wanna get into the 6k range coz i got 170k on it and dont wanna risk blowin somethin up lol..... plus if i have to go into 6 grand racin someone instead of 5, then i prolly aint gonna win with that extra 1k [sm=icon_rofl.gif]
