Default Questions about a 8.8 rearend

The new rearend I just bought does not have a set up for my quad shocks. It also does not have backing plates for the drum brakes installed. My questions are......
1. Do I need the quad shocks?
2. Does anybody have a diagram on how to pull the axles out of a 8.8 rearend? I need to install the backing plates and I don't want to get in there and screw up my new stuff.
3. Do you just install the backing plates and then the C clip eliminators, then install the axles?
4. My stock rearend has a big weight at the front close to where the drive shaft bolts on. It seems like weight that I don't need. Do I need it or can I chunk it?

Sorry guys, please don't flame me, but I'm an idiot when it comes to rearend housings. I can take them out and reinstall them, but that's the extent of my knowledge of them.

if your using aftermarket control arms then i would say no - if you are using wide tires then you cant will cause rubbing issues

I will be using both aftermarket UCA's and LCA's, and fatter tires. I just want to make sure I don't need the quad shocks.

Does anybody know the answers to my other questions?

no diagram but its not too hard. gotta pull the cover (should be no fluid if just shipped) and get the pin out that keeps the axles from moving inward. its held in by one bolt going thru it.once that is out push the axle in and c-clip will wall off. then slide the axle out and bolt backing plate on.
for #3 i have never used c-clip eliminators, so im not sure, but my guess is yes.
#4 i have no clue what that weight does, but i swear it must have a purpose if its on there. all the 8.8s ive seen have them on.

Thanks Pro. I actually found that last night when I was surfing to find answers. It's an awesome link. I did figure out the axle question. It was so easy. I never exprected it to be that easy to do. The new rearend has a spool in it. I didn't even have to remove the rear cover.

I still wish I could find out about the quad shocks and that 15 pound weight on the front of the housing.

Any guesses on the quad shocks or that weight. Neither of the links mention them.
