Have you changed anything else on the car? Like the selenoid orbatt cables? I changed the batt cables on my car and my buddy hooked up the selenoid wrong with the little wires and the starter would hang up every time I started it! So when I put them back where they belonged it worked! Just a thought.

ya ive changed alot of stuff on the car including hiding all the engine compartment wires. but i dont think the starter is hanging up because it engages and disengages when i unturn the key.... it just makes grinding noises when i go to start it sometimes...

Maybe the dualast starters dont work to well in your car! Try buying a ford starter. Those starters should not need shims!

Try replacing the selenoid! It might not be engaging the flywheel all the way!
