Default Torque wrenches

So i need to get a torque wrench so i can put my valve covers and upper intake back on. The one i was using is not calibrated correctly i'm pretty sure. When i loosened the valve cover bolts, they came off VERY easyily, and i torqued them to what it said to.

So my question is..... I can get an ampro torque wrech for like 32 bones. You think this will do the trick just for the valve covers and upper intake ( cant really tourque the upper anyways cuz the bolt pattern )

I plan on gettin a good one when the funds are available. Any input on the ampro torque wrench ?

Just go to Sears and get a 1/2" drive click type torque wrench. The click type is WAY more accurate than the beam type. I think I picked mine up for $40 or so.

BTW, valve cover bolts are only torqued to like 15 ft.lbs which is VERY little pressure.

PS: I think the intake is 26 ft/lbs.

I agree, just spring for a quality one now, you can get a nice one for not too much money, Idk if I'd trust Ampro although i'm sure its decent.

I'll head up to sears and see what they have to offer. The only reason i am leaning towards ampro is cuz i get an advance auto discount, and its pretty cheap anyways.

More than you'll want to spend but I use electronic ones at work. Best wa y to ro. Bout 300 a piece though. You will need something that measures in inch pounds for the valve covers. Or you can just tighten them by hand. Most 1/2 drive torque wrenches will not go low enough to do the maniflod either. You'll need either a 3/8 or 1/4" on for nos. that low.

PRO is right... You're better off getting a 3/8s drive torque wrench. Tighten the valve covers snug with a 1/4 drive ratchet, and torque the uppers to 26-28ft lbs

The ampro one is 10-150 ft. lbs

I bought it, but didnt use it yet, so i ahve time to decide if i want to keep it or not. It aws only 32 bones. So maybe i'll use it for awhile then get a new one once my tax returns come back in.
