Default Problems after new build

So I just got my 306 together and I have noticed that when I hit second real hard the rpms drop to about 4000 (normal) and will stay there for a second before it will start pulling. What could be the cause of this?

Not saying I didn't properly break it in, just stating that is is new.
I have never heard of this fuel tank baffle, explain this to me.

this problem happened to me as well. the baffle is a thin piece of sheet metal, just like your tank. its about 6 inches tall and it's bent into a cicle, emcompassing the fuel pump, so it always keeps gas around and under the pump. when they break off(and they often do in our cars), it causes gas to slide away from the pump when you nail it, or whip a corner hard.

you have to replace the tank, you cannot fix it.

Thanks I will definately look into that. Also I am running stock fuel system at the moment. How much do you think I will benefit from 24 pounders and better pump? Sometimes it dosen't pull past about five, I am begining to suspect fuel delivery problems.

depends on any other mods you have. if you have a 306 with stock heads and intake, then no. but if you have upgraded heads and intake the yes, u need more fuel

It's a DSS Pro Bullet with AFR 185's, cobra intake 70mm throttle body and shortys. I took it to thestrip for the first time and ran a 8.83 at 81 with 2.0 60 foot. W/ drag radials. Um yea I was very dissapointed. Do you think my hole problem is fuel?

hell yah. your gonna need at least 24# injectors with accompany'ing MAF, and at least a 190lph fuel pump(stock is 85). might as well do the tank at the same time. i know i'm right, you'll see what i'm talking about when you drop the tank.

Ok well the first thing im gonna do is buy a fuel pressure gauge and run it inside to the dash and see what it's doing while im going down the road. Hopefully thats all it is cause theres people here with the same build running high sevens.
