Default Timing Quest?

OK, now I do not really understand the whole...upping your timing thing.

I am doing my H/C/I and I have the motor at TDC...or '0' on the balancer

I have read that people are going up to 15 with their timing. Does this mean that I should roll my balancer to 15 for better performance?

School me?!?!

Ignition timing. Get it set to around TDC or as the instructions say for starting, then once the engine is running, using a timing light set the ignition timing to whatever the inital needs to be(which varries greatly based on combination)

your car must run like sh*t. stock timing is 10* people who go up to 15* base timing are the people who believe more is always better. adding timing only does so much and there is a limit where adding more timing no longer adds hp. set your timing to 12* and go from there

yes 0 on the balancer is TDC for #1 piston... but you need to make sure its on its compression stroke, not exhaust... and get it to there, then go to 10 deg below tdc.... start it up and go from there. 10 is stock
