Default MAF questions

I just recently bought a 1986 gt, and of course its speed density.. i was not planning on doing a whole lot to the car mod wise, all it has now is 373's and flowmaster mufflers(all done to the car when i bought it). my real quesion is if i wanted to just do h pipe, intake manifold(trick flow maybe) and thats about it for now would i need to convert to MAF. any input would be great thanks!

I had full exhaust and ported and deckedheads with 1.7 rockers still running speed density...it isn't as bad as what people think.

Just do what you want, then if you have to, convert. I just converted mine, but i don't reallyhave to yet, just wanted to do itfor down the road.

dude, everything u listed DONT waste the time/money to swap, its not nesacery, or worth it... as a matter of fact, ppl have noticed that when they switch to MAF from SD, they notice a slight performance loss. if youd like, i can explain why, but its alot to type, lol.

yea u can do all that no problem. you can do heads and a cam also... however, w the cam, you are limited on choices...see the cam has to make vac. for the car to idle/run properly. but heads, go for it.

o and **** a CAI, just get a drop in KnN and call it a day, just as good

Throwing a cam in a 86 would be a bad idea.. The cam is already good enough.. Also the only choices you have on heads are Twisted Wedge and ported stockers..

ah, didnt think about the flat pistons in the 86, good call on the heads...

however the cam thing is not tru... there are quite a few cams you can swap to for bigger numbers
