Default tach question

since i swapped in a carbed 5.0 in my vert i have had to use an aftermarket tach, i was wondering if there is anyway i can safely wire into my stock tach using a simple wire(s) setup like that you would use with a points dizzy and coil ignition

i kinda figured that since thats how my new tach is hooked up, i guess what i mean is when you look at the back of the instument cluster you will find three posts behind the tach and i wanted to now if and what ones to wire to and do i have to cut the plastic electronics film to make sure that i don't send electricity to an unwanted palce or fry anything or start a fire

also keep in mind that most of my factory wiring isn't there anymore since i din't need it anymore because i went with a carbed setupso i think i need to run all new wires for the tach

i would run new wires anyway. splicing off the stock tach wiring is going to give inaccurate readings.

dude, its pretty cut and dry. run the signal wire for the tach to the negative side of the coil. you coulda been done wiring it by now instead of waiting for other people to say the same thing as me.

okay i understand what you mean because i already have an aftermarket tach hooked up and working properly, what i am asking is, is there a way i can hook up the factory tach so that i don't need the aftermarket tach, because i like the sleeper look of a factory tach. i think i worded that better now , so do you or anyone else know if this is even possible with my setup

i dont think thats possible, if all the other wiring and whatnot has been removed. that flexible circuit board wires to the computer at some points.
