Engine codes.... FIXED
Well i just ran some engine codes and got the following
67 neutral drive sw ckt open or a/c on
31 egr (ept) signal out of range
66 airflow (maf/vaf) signal low-ckt gnd
12 cannot raise rpm (extended idle)
I have no idea what the first and last one are. But when i checked the middle two in my chiltons manual it said something about not enough voltage to the sensors. Does this mean that the sensors or egr valve are bad? Or it it simply just not enough voltage getting there, and maybe a bad alternator? Because when im idling my lights are a bit dimmer unless i rev the engine. Also if it helps my check engine light seems to come on if i accelerate at all, even a little bit, then goes away right when i let off. Hope i gave enough info. Let me know what you tghink i should do next or what needs to be replaced. Im kinda stumped and knwo nothign about egr valve stuff.

RE: Engine codes....
67 is because the computer wasn't able to turn off the a/c during self testing. usually means the a/c is empty.
12 is because the IAC won't raise the idle during testing.
we went over the egr last night. the sensor is out of range because of carbon buildup inside the EGR, and it's pushing the sensor in prematurely. if you take the sensor off and grind 1mm off the pintle, that code will go away for a few months.

RE: Engine codes....
ok, for 67, if a/c stands for air conditioning i dont have a/c...
for 12 i dotn realyl get it because i dont kno wwhat an IAC is,
and for the egr one i figured it was what you were telling me last night, but when the code said something about not enough votage for that and the maf i figured maybe it was something to do with the alternator not pumping enough juice to it. thanks for bearing with me here

RE: Engine codes....
The IAC (idle air control) is that lil silver thing on the side of the throttle body. Its also called an air bypass valve. They get dirty just like the EGR and need cleaned every so often. Take it off and spray some carb cleaner thru it. You can do the same with the EGR. Watch the gasket tho as they stick fast after awhile and will tear on you if youre not careful.
