Do drag radials really make a big difference in traction?

In my car at any time in 1st gear, if I punch the tires just break loose. I have been thinking about drag radials for my next set of rear tires. Would they make a big difference? I am currently running $57 Khumo Ecsta 711 (245/50/16).

Thank you.

you won't beleive it until you try it. back when I was n/a I could punch it anywhere in first and at the top of 2nd and it would break the tires loose. no more breaking them loose anymore after that. seriously - and all I had were 245 wide Nitto's. Before those tires, at the track - I would feather it at like 1000 rpm to launch, shifting into 2nd I'd get sideways real bad, I'd spin pretty bad going into 3rd and bark 4th every time I shifted. After the tires, I launched at 2500 rpm and could bark 2nd. No more 3rd and no more 4th. (stock clutch had some to do with that too).

Nitto's are generally 8 - 12k, BFG's 3-5k

Well I will either be putting 17" drag radials on these 2 cobra wheels that I will be getting or I will just get 16" d/r's and run them all the time.
