3.73s are not bad for highway...especially with an automatic...

But you were asking about your motor...sounds like you are building a BEAST!!

Best of luck to you!

No, the Ol' Ladys daily driver is a GMC Yukon, plenty of room for her and the kids. I have a ext cab Cheverolet as my every day driver. and if we are kid free, we jump on the custom softail and go for a ride. I think I am going to go ahead and get the 3.73 gears. I'm not going to worry with it, if it is too tall of gear, I put the tallest tire in the back to compensate for it as much as possible. One thing for sure is not going to happen and that is if I do anything with the cam choice, it will be more lift/duration. I was allways taught by my old man to either go big or go home.

I read somewhere about a formula to figure the engines CFM. The (RPMs X CID)then divide that number by 3500. Can someone out there tell me what this constant number is suppose to represent?

4.10s are over rated, and kill ur top end, why dont someone come up with a real suggestion besides the cookie cutter reply crap, tired of hearing the same ole crap, its like people hear shyt and just parrot it back to everyone else. whether they have tried it themselves or not.my opinion, 4.10 suck *** when some one has a 11 second daily driver ill be impressed

I have a 11 sec N/Acar that can be daily driven but I choose not to. I have 4.10s and get 13 miles per gallon. With the 3 speed auto it is going to be buzzing on the highway but with that engine you will need to. If you get a loose converter you will really need to keep it churning to keep from burning up the converter. 3.73s would be the minimum.

i think 4.10s are kinda steep for a car that will see the highway or interstate a lot... but its an auto not a t-5 u mite be able to get away with it... i personally think 3.73 will get u the best of both worlds... with my t-5 im goin 3.55 or 3.27... i dont wanna loss top end and i will be boosting it as well...

I'm new to the stroker world and custom cams for that matter. I've allways been around off the shelf stuff. Even the radical roller.729 lift cam in Dad's old 482cid Malibu. Not sure what I am supposed to be looking for on a custom set up.
Custom cams are that "Custom". You don't build a car around a cam, you get a cam for the total of parts(combo). when you get in touch with a Cam Grinder that knows his stuff, he will give you a build sheet that you have to fill out. Very specific information needed in order to correctly design the grind you need. Also you will be ask what are your specific goal for said car(daily driver, week end warrior or simply race). Now keep in mind that you get what you pay for, I would go with a known reputable person. Go visit Camshaft Innovation download the build sheet and see what I'm referring to.
Good luck with your decision LUK.[8D]
