Default t-stat Issue?

My friendgave mea stant 160* t-stat from his old stang that was still brand new. Installed it a few days ago but don't think its working properly. Temp will get up to about 230 then it'll drop to about 200, like it seems it finally opens up at 230. Could it be defective or could somthing else be wrong?

did you remember to burp the coolant? and i would put a 180 in there 160 is too cold for efi your computer is gunna be fighting with the t-stat to bring it to opperating temp which will cause you to run rich and burn too much gas

I 180 will allow your car to free up few horses but when it comes to smog your going to have to switch back to a 195.

stay away from the 160

I just bought a 180° for mine, supposed to be the best overall.
