Maybe when you bought your starter...they gave you the wrong one??

I had a problem with my starter not catching, but it was because it was not bolted in all the way...are you sure it is seated in there at the proper torque?

sounds like a bad starter if it won't even engage the flywheel, and the flywheel looks good. get yourself a new one :P

ive had quite a few issues with my starter, 1st i replaced it, then that one did same thing not engaging the flywheel so then i pulled the tranny did clutch/flywheel/new starter and it fixed it fine, but like 3 months later it started acting up again and would just spin not hitting the flywheel turns out all that happend was the starter bolts came lose tightened em up put some thread locker on em done!
