Rear shocks

Default Rear shocks

I cant get my rear shocks off from the top. I cant seem to get a vice grips to hold back the fricken shaft from spinning with the wrench any ideas??

I haven't seen a factory shock on the mustang but on my crown vic i cut the outer part of the shock with tin snips then I had room to lock my vise grips on the shaft.

spray some wd40 on the nut. Mine came off easy.

now that i think about it it should have a slit to place a flat head so you can spin it with a wrench.

the vice grips and wrench is how i got mine off....but i did spray it with 1st aid rust penetrant

Use an impact wrench on it, you won't even have to hold anything, just the trigger

I was able to get them off with a ratchet with someone holding the bottom under the car. I had to use an impact to get the new ones snug enough.
