Remove the sensor from the housing and spray liberally with brake cleaner.

Let it air dry and re-install.

jason

EDIT:
Avoid ANY contact with the wires...

Yes, remove the MAF, inside is a tube and inside the tube there are two tiny wires. Get a can of MAF cleaner and gently spray the wires from both sides. Let it sit and dry for a couple minutes, and repeat again. Let it dry once more, and reinstall. Be sure that you reinstall it straight up and down. If you have it tilted, it may make the car run differently.

It's a good idea to make it a routine to clean the MAF and IAC every 3 oil changes or so. At least that's what I do. Also check the TPS voltage on a regular basis, and clean the TB.

It isn't more complicated....

Brake cleaner eating the maf wires is BS, and folks shouldn't spread BS!!!

Look at a few labels for your precious MAF Cleaner, and compare it to the label of Chlorinated Brake Cleaner and Electronics Cleaner...

Most of them are all the same stuff!

Going on memory, so forgive me if I don't spell it correctly,

Tetrachloroethylene

I recommend Brake Cleaner because most folks already have it. No reason to buy a can of cleaner that is the same chemical, with a different label on it.

good luck,
jason
