What about an intake..upper and lower. Throttle Body...I have a 75mm on mine, i love it. Maybe some gears...mine has 3:73's... Its great for the streets and when the time comes for you to put your foot to the floor..lol. Justby doing these things can help your performace by alot. Ill show you a list of what i have for a refrence. Its nothing to crazy, im only 18 and in college, and have a girlfriend, so i understand your limits on $$$ lol.
---------------- Upper and Lower Trickflow Intake
Cold Air intake with mass air sensor
75mm throttle body
aluminum driveshaft
gears : 3:73's
2 inchheat spacer
Im hoping to do some more to it, But it seems thattheres not really much left to do that doesnt entitle a ton of work like cam, roller rockers, heads stuff like that. I am in the process of trying to find a chip. These things are also right around your price range.
I hope this helped you out...!!!

Gears first, then tires. maunal or auto? Manual, get a short throw, auto get a shift kit and stall converter. Id then start saving to swap out the heads, as their the weakest link on our cars.
First of all, 3.55, 3.73, or 4.10 gears (3.55 and or 3.73 manual, 4.10s auto just my opinion though) - nicely improve accelleration at all RPMs
Lightweight aluminum driveshaft - will net you a little more mpg and will reduce drive train mass a little to furthur boost accelleration at all RPMs
65mm or 70mm throttle body (don't know too much about the stock intake size, so for 70mm you may have to port the upper intake, I know a Cobra you don't though) - till will compliment your CAI, and make a nice stepping block for when you do your heads, cam, and intake work. Will net you around 5 or so more rwhp.
Lower the car - nothings worse then haveing a car that's fast, and can't handle worth a fud.
N2O - this is the best way to boost hp and performance, however, N2O can become costly in the long run, and needs a great tune to run 100% safely.
Heads/Cam/Intake- will highly improve performance and add around 60-80 rwhp depending on the setup.
Supercharger - will drastically improve performance and, on a stock engine, will boost you up to around 300 rwhp on 8 psi.
