Default ALT?

So I had my car running it would start fine and such, then it would barely turn over and seemed that the battery was drained so I jumped it and still not turning over. I took the battery back got another because they said it was fried, tried to start but it would barely turn over...Could this be the alt? I mean it should still start if it's being jumped right? Could the throw out bearing make it hard to turn over? I know it was going out.

if it starts when cold and wont when its hot most likely the ICM is bad. 20 dollar part easy as hell to put in.

I was thinking maybe the alt was killing them off but, I wanted a second opinion and I don't think I drove on this second battery but went to jump it and it still wasn't giving enough juice to start. =/
