Default 91 coupe header replacement

i am looking to replace the headers in my car and am wondering if i would just be better off letting someone else deal with it. i am definately able to do this kind of job but they are the original units that i have to take off and wonder how bad the bolts would be to get off. anybody done a job like this before. are they all rusted to crap. just by looking at them they don't look bad but after trying to get the mufflers and h-pipe off i wonder how much of a pain it would be. also i would hate to snap one of the bolts off by accident. is there anyway to help prevent this? any tips or advice on this would be great thanks,

adam

I replaced my stockers after being on the car for 14 years. The header bolts came out w/o any issues. As for breaking the flange bolts, who cares, the new headers will come w/ new ones. Depending on what type of headers, ( shorties, equal/unequal, long tubes) will determine the amount and difficulty of install time.

What headers were you thinking of going with?

i honestly have no idea what kind of headers i want. i do need to replace them though cause mine leak and i need to fix it to get a sticker. as far as the flange bolts you are right i don't care about them but i am worried about breaking one of the headers bolts and leaving the stud on the head or something stupid. does that ever happen or should i just start turning some wrenches and not worry about it.

i am going to be getting shorty headers for sure. haven't decided on equal on unequal. you have any idea what the power difference is?

Yes, the boltscan break. Don't be afraid though. The power difference is barely noticable between the 2 styles.

I put BBK unequal shorties on mine with no problems. I soaked all the bolts in PB Blaster and they all came out just fine. Its an 86 GT, btw.
