I have a 1995 mustang gt and my fan finally burned out. I posted about a week ago about this but i have a different question. I have a temporary fan on for now and i just flushed the system and have straight coolant, not the 50/50 stuff and i am still over heating and i have the fan running all the time. what could it be?

Get rid of the straight a/f. It needs to be a 50/50 mix for better heat transfer. You may also have an air pocket in the system.

If there was a air pocket in the system, then wouldn't it over quickly, because mine take about 15-20 minutes while driving to overheat

Also does anyone know if the fan controls more than blowing air on the engine or does it control something else in the cooling system. I have a new one on the way

I am running a 75/25 and it take forever to heat up when its cold out

To my knowledge, water provides better heat transfer then the glycol in A/F. The reason we run a 50/50 mix to help prevent freezing in winter (Thus businghoses and the like) and to help reduce corrosion. So by running a high or lower amount of water you are really hurting you motor in the long run.
