I was driving my car tonight and shifted into 4th and it got stuck and when i tried pushing it out it wouldnt come out and there was a whining noise from the tranny. Iended up having to twiddle with the gas and clutch to get it out. It only does this when i get up to speed. otherwise, like when its neutral, it goes in and out of gear fine. anyone got and idea what wrong with my tranny? thnx.

i dont know too much about manual transmissions. i dont think itd be transmission fluid cuz itd prolly happen with the other gears too. u think it could be the syncro?
clutch is fine.
but what do u mean by adjustment?

 

i mean the clutch atjustment... where does the clutch grab at? it may be out of adjustment, and slightly causing the input shaft to still spin w. the engine

and how about WOT beatingthe **** out of it?
and is it grinding, staying in gear or wut?

 

alright, when the car is off it goes in and out of fourth no prob.
while driving, once i get it up to speed, like anywhere past 40, it locks up and wont come out until i come to a stop and mess with it.
and i havent beaten the crap outta it but thatll be next lol.
and its not grinding while its stuck. when i try and push it out, theres a whining noise from the tranny butotherwise it juststays ingear.

 

you need a rebuild, I've already been there

it doesnt technically NEED a rebuild... the problem could be in the 3-4 synchro spring...


Do you have a hard time getting it into 3rd?
