Default WHY 89 ???

Hey. As you probably know im a 4.6 guy. But im buying another FOX to add to my collection. Im usually not in here ( 5.0 ) but im getting one so i thought i might see what goes on in here. Well i just read a post about someone wanting a fox. Why does everyone suggest a 89?? I dont understand. Whats so special about the 89 that isnt about the 90, or 91. I know about 92 and 93's with the piston problem. But i dont understand whats so special about the 1989 Fox????? Please fill me in!

I have no clue, but I wonder if it might have something to do with the paint scheme. I know my friends 88 is blue on top with greyish on the sideskirt area, so that might have something to do with it. Also maybe just alot of people have 89s so that is their favorite.

And I think 93 (the year I have) was the year that they switched from forged to the more durable/less boost resistant pistons.

89 was the first year of mass air, hence their the cheapest of the mass air cars. 89-92 is the most desireable of the fox's.

89 IS THE FIRST YEAR OF MASS AIR AND THE LAST YEAR OF TILT WHEEL. MINE IS 89, BUT STILL HAS THE 85 MPH SPEEDO. I HAVE A 140MPH SPEEDO FOR IT THOUGH.

basicly the mass air, no air bag and 140 speedo. also there are no door map pockets. and the head rests are the bigger sport style.

Definately a 89-92 ... I love my 91, it has everything I would ever want in a stang. I will never get rid of it. Great power, sound, and look. Just watch out for the Speed Density Systems on the 87-88's, and the hyperneumatic pistons on the 93's... They make better compression as they are a tighter fit in the bore, but are not as strong and mod friendly as forged. Forged all the way!
