Try bypassing the starter relay and feed voltage directly to your starter.. If that doesnt work then you will have to look at the starter or its wiring. If it does start by doing this then you know it is either your relay or the ignition switch. If you have 12v at the relay coming inwith key on-start and no voltage coming out of the relay thenyou know it is your relay andyour ignition switch it fine. If you dont have voltage at the relay with key on-start then it is either your igntion switch or something possibly in your nuetral safety circuit etc. hope this helps...

Check the fusable links that come of the starter soleniod. You most likely toasted them.

i have no idea what you guys are talking about. I am really not that skilled mechanic wise, do you suggest just taking it to someone? The ignition switch you are talking about, where is that located? sorry im so dumb, but i am just learning.... and i dont really know how to bypass or none of that, so can you give me like a step by step? I went to the part store and they told me it was the selenoid, i put a new one in, and still just get one click and then nothing. I have all my interior lights and everythinh thing else, but the car will not start....thaanks matt

I very helpful tool fordiagnosing electrical problemsis a multimeterGet one and find out where you do and dont have voltage. Also by reading your first post tells me that you are getting voltage to your starter relay(or solenoid although it really isnt a soilenoid). The clicking your are most likely hearing is the realy contacts closing. Check out your fuseable links by your relay with a multimeter for an open, also check the starter wiring or the starter itself, that should at least narrow it down for ya.

do you have a multimeter?? If you dont that is the first thing you will need. The fusable link islocated right off the starter relay, it will look like a thick black rubber insulator wrapped around a piece of wire. After reading this wiring schematic it looks like to me that if you are getting power to your starter relay with key on-start which i am assuming you are since you said you hear a click which is most likely your relay contacts closing then a fusable linkis probably not the problem since there are no fusable links after the relay. If you werent getting voltage to the relay then you should be looking into a bad link..

Yes, they will be the smaller wires coming off the pos side of the soleniod. Pull on each one, if they are bad, they will have a rubbery like feel to them (they will feel like they stretch). Meaning the wire inside the covering has burned through but the cover has not.

Yes that is where thay are located but, if he is getting voltage to the relay then it cant be a link... Since they are on the positive side not the output side and he is getting voltage to the relay and the relay is working
