Default swap part $$

how much will the following parts run me for my 5.0 swap...

1. stock flywheel for a 5.0 HO
2. motor mounts
3. x-pipe and exhaust (any brand)
4. crank pulley
5. intake manifold gaskets for an Edelbrock Performer intake
6. timing chain (was told it is good to redo it?)

and lastly, whats wrong with the stock tubular exhaust headers? why would replacing them be good? they look fine for now....

Check out Summit at: http://www.summitracing.com/

They have free shipping, and they will beat any price...fast shipping too!

Another great site is 5.0 Resto at: http://www.50resto.com/

Or, you can hit up a localjunk yard........

Either way, it is all going to depend how crazy you want to get. You can spend $10 at junkyard for a flywheel or $100 for a new one.....your choice

thanks man, not looking for too much crazyness right now, this is the first v8 RWD car Ive ever owned, so I want to get adjusted to 200ish hp before I do anything else. right now stock or OEM equipment will work for me, though I will splurge on 2 chamber flowmasters

I did mine with a wrecked 5.0 for that I bought for $300.00. Plus I rebuilt everything for quite a bit more. But If you can find a wreck it is the cheapest way to go. It should have everything you need. If your donor motor is not from a mustang there are a lot of things you need that you do not have listed.

Oild Pan
Bell Housing (Depending on what you have)
Oil pickup tube.
V8 Tranny crossmember or cut welds and adjust your current one.
Accessory brackets (Possibly, Depends on donor.)

Just to name a few.

Then +1 on "CantStopTheFox..."

I have seen a little better prices on summit but it always pays to shop around. Motor mounts and Flywheel I would check with your local suppliers also. They may be less expensive. My double roller timing chain was right around 35 from summit.

the stock headers are very restrictive. just look how they are pinched closed everywhere they bend. if you cant budget a good set of shorties then you'll have to wait.

why will he have to wait???? ya they are restrictive but there is no since putting the whole project off due to not buying shorties...it only takes a little whle to swap them out if he decides to get them

If you already have the stock shorties, you might as well just slap them in there to get it running. However, if you have NO headers.... buy a set of aftermarkets on ebay.

You WILL need a new tranny crossmember, modifying it will not work. If your going to run a dual exhaust you need a double hump crossmember.
