Default idle problem

well i have a basically stock 5.0 in my car except for the weiand xcelerator intake and i am running an edelbrock model # 1405 carb. my problem is i cannot seem to get it to idle correctly. usually i am pretty good at adjusting carbs but this one has me thrown off. my floats are adjusted correctly and i used a vacuum guage to find the lean-best idle mixture. when it is a idling in my driveway it will surge and when i am driving and ill have the clutch in at a stop sign it will go up to like 2k rpmsthen drop down and want to stall, i can tap the gas and it will go back up and sometimes come back down and start to surge around 1k rpms. i dont get it???

one thing is you have the wrong intake..you need a dual plane intake..does that carb have a slosh tube?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. You got a cam?

no cam and no vacuum leak...i keep coming back to a vacuum leak too but there is absolutley none. i did just realize today i have a minor exhaust leak where the header meets the h-pipe, i dont think that would cause my problem though. if it is i am fixing it tom. i would have done it today but i was at motoX races tonight

I dunno man. Usually a high idle is due toa lean mixture or vacuum leak
