Default Mac Underdrive pulleys...help!

hey i have a question about the mac underdrive pulleys.
I heard that they are not good for your car, and can actually cause mechanical problems, by wearing down the battery and alternator...
anyone else know anything about that?
cuz i did only hear that from one person, but that person is very reliable..

the only thing i have heard about pullies being bad is when they replace the dampner, I think that you will be fine with it. but maybe someone with more knowledge could help you out!

The underdrive pullies slow down the speed of the front accessories. This means a slower water pump and alternator. On a good working cooling system the slower water pump is not a problem. But with the stock fox alternator and a few running accessories(ex.headlights,radio,elec. fan,) at idle the alternator might not be able to put out enough juice. Most people will either tell you they arent worth the hassle, or to put them on and just leaveout the underdrive alternator pulley.

Even my SN95 with the larger alternator struggled at idle with a few accessories turned on. I ended up having to remove them anyway when I put the s/c on. But on a fox with a smaller alternator, I can see it causing some issues.

i have u/d's on my 95, and i've never had a charge problem. i've tried running it at idle with every accessory on, and it never even hiccupped.

Now add a stereo with a subwoofer / amp combo that's 600w (RMS not peak) and see how the system handles it[8D]
