Hi, I've been reading the board for some time now after I purchased my 86 GT Cobra (with 5.0 HO). I was wondering what the initial timing is to be set at, and at what rpm? The guy before me painted over the stickeres under the hood. Also my idle is around 900 RPM how do I adjust the idle governer? Lastly, just out of curiosity, what HP and TQ figures does this engine put out?

10* initial is stock, thats set at idle with the spout connector unplugged. 14* is often run for performance reasons but that will require premium fuel. Idle can be adjusted by the idle screw on behind the throttle butterfly - doing so though would require you to re-calibrate your TPS. HP was around 205 I beleive, tq around 275. Maybe someone else knows the exact amount.

 

86 cobra??? never knew they made one unless yours is candian

they didn't til 93..on that car you can go with 14 degrees timing and use 89 octange
