TPS bad?

TPS bad?
i hooked my volt meter up to the tps today because i was going to set it to 1 v and to my astonishment it showed a reading of 5.02 v while the throttle body was closed.
i opened it and it still showed 5.02 v.
could it be that the tps is bad? if so, where can i get a new one and how much are they?

RE: TPS bad?
Need to make sure you're probing the right wires (green and black color wires at the sensor side)....BTW....if you don't have any TPS related failure codes (23, 53, 63) showing up in a DIY KOEO/KOER/Cylinder Balance Self-Test you're not gaining anything in terms of performance or driveability......the computer is working within specs. Setting the TPS to .99998 vdc is a mythical setting "upgrade".....

RE: TPS bad?
no newbie it probably isn't bad most sensors have what they call a 5 volt reference feed that the computer works off of you'r probably probing the wrong wire you need to probe the signal wire out of the tps.
