replacing alternator
I've just replaced my alternator since the bearing were cracking hard! Since I have to commute every day from Perris, Ca to San Diego (160 miles round trip!!!) it was a must have item. Anyway, I bought a new alternator from "Kragen" about $143.00 not too expensive. The removal was easy. I first removed the negative side of my battery, then I started removing the clips from the old alternator. After that I started removing the belt then I removed the only two bolts that hold the equipment. Easy as almost one, two, four:)
The install was easy too. Here are some pics of my car and the install. RE: replacing alternator
Damn dude, I paid $100 for mine at CarQuest but that's cost since I work for Ford...it's outrageous the mark ups they put on parts...you either need to work at a place that has accounts at car part place or know someone who does.

RE: replacing alternator
I know parts aint cheap and you are right, if you do not belong to a certain club or have some time of discount parts are going to be more expensive. Sometimes it is car parts or food on the table..........though descision.......:(

RE: replacing alternator
I'm curious why you didn't upgrade to a high output alt.....

RE: replacing alternator
I do not need it. I am running in the normal area even with underdrive pulleys.
