Default MSD 6AL with Duraspark Dizzy

Can some one tell me what part number and where they purchased the duraspark dizzy with the steel gear for the roller cam. I am running a carbed set up with roller valve train. I called NAPA, and he got me more confused after I talked to him than before I spoke with him. I tried to do a search on this and all I could come up with was an 85 model with steel gear. Napa guy needed more info. Do I need it with the module on it or not?

You can get it at napa or go to a junk yard I've done both before however I wouldn't use the msd box with it unless you have a stock cam I had a aftermarket cam with a lot of lift and duration and we had to tune the advance curve on the stock dizzy (not the quickest and easiest) and no it won't have the module on the side that was for the 85 efi motor as there were two options in 85 for the 5.0 4 barrel and efi

all you need to mention is you need a dizzy for a 5.0 mustang with steel gear and no module on the side. the 5 speed 4 barrel gt's came with duraspark only.

You said that you wouldn't run it with anything above a stock cam. I am running the Comp XFI236HR-14
It has .579 lift and .286&.300 duration. I guess that cam will be too much for this stock dizzy?

I allmost feel that I would be better off just buying an MSD dizzy to go with my 6AL box and Blaster 2 coil. I was just trying to save myself some money by running the duraspark dizzy.

I'm running a xe 282 hr 565/574 the problem with the stock distributor is the advance rate is calibrated to that of the stock cam. I tried using the stock dizzy as is and wouldn't go past 4000 with out breaking down once I tunned the advance curve all was fine but I eventually got the matching msd distributor takes 5 min to change the advance curve where as a stock dizzy you have to take it all apart

crane ignition > msd for a few different reasons

i dunno why its so hard to change the advance springs in a duraspark dizzy - i can do it in a few minutes. that being said, if you are gonna shell out for a new unit you might as well spend a couple bucks more and grab a aftermarket unit.

again, crane ftmfw (and i own msd stuff now [>:])
