If it's an 83 5 speed than it has a 4 barrel not efi I had an 85 with the efi which is a throttle body mounted on top an intake that has two injectors that atomize the fuel to the intake. anly the automatic 5.0's in 83-85 came with that set up for an intake I'd reccommend a performer 289 if you don't have emmissions if so than a performer 302

When I used to live in utah and had emmissions, I paid 179.00 for the performer 302 has provisions for an egr valve just look on summit racing. add their performer 302 cam .448 /472 lift along with the emmissions legal performer 5.0 heads and you'll have a nice little package

with exhaust and a3.73 gears and roller rockers that's basically the set up I had above and I ran a best of 13.47 at 99 mph. I ve since redone the car completely and it's way faster now but that'll give you an idea what you'll get out of a package like that!!!

sweet. yeah i can't wait. since im still young, i'm just showing my car, everyone i race for fun (most of the times, my friends) i usually win with my setup right now, but its not enough, i only get 1/2 to 1 car length on them, and even to the bottled kids, its still a contest. but after i do a few more mods, im going to take it to the tracks and get some real times on it can't wait. thanks alot mjr

The stock 83 air cleaner setup works really good, it pulls air from inside the fenders. Pretty much a cold air setup already. No restriction from it either, ran my car on the dyno with and without the lid. No difference. Get a K&N for it. If your down pipes are 2", the 86-93 headers wont work. Stock outletis 21/4" I believe. 94-95 came with 2 1/2". You could just have the pipe to the cats redone to match the rest of the exhaust though.

I have a 83 CAPRI same car as your TANGthe headers will work with mods the steering shaft just hits the header on drivers side needs to be dimpled just a bit..........the front pipes will need to be up'd or refitted not only are they to small (2") but the exit angles from manifold to header is different so front pipes need to be reworked.......my car runs a RPM AIR GAP, full MSD, HOLLEY 670, 4.10's(8.8 upgrade),5 speed,M/T ET street slicks...........and the car has ran 13.4 @101mph

i have a 83 gt and also have some problems finding parts for it. Even though i have a 85 engine in the 83 body, these 2 years seem to be nearly impssible to find parts for.
